ABDOMINOPLASTY
If you have developed a prominent abdomen due to excess wrinkled skin and fatty tissue, related to loss of skin elasticity and poor muscle tone—whether caused by pregnancy changes, weight gain and loss, or metabolism, then an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) may be indicated to create a trimmer, firmer abdominal contour. This surgery is usually performed through a horizontal incision across the lower abdomen, just above the pubic area, so the final scar can be hidden within a bikini line. Liposuction removes the fat, excess skin is trimmed away, and sutures tighten the abdominal muscles. The extent of surgery will depend upon the pre-existing condition of your abdominal wall and your stated goals. The recent introduction of the On-Q Pain Buster® has allowed Dr. Schwartz to provide significant post-operative pain relief and increased comfort and mobility in the first few days after surgery.
